Today is the last day of turning the eggs. Hopefully we will have some action this weekend!

Eggs come in all different sizes. On the left is an ostrich egg and it is very big. On the right there are hummingbird eggs and they are very tiny.

Today I tried candling the eggs, in this picture you can see the darker spot on the egg, this is the chick that is developing.

Chicken Fact #1: Did you know that not all chickens lay white eggs? As you can see from the picture above and the eggs in our incubator there are a lot of different colors.

If you look closely at today's picture you can see the "O" on the eggs. But if you look at yesterday's it has an "X". Before  I put the eggs in the incubator I marked one side with an "O" and one side with an "X". This is so I can make sure that I turn them in the morning and at night so that the baby chicks develop correctly. It also helps me make sure all parts of the egg are getting the same amount of warmth. 

The eggs are set and the waiting begins. Some of you might be wondering what the big white box is, it's an incubator. Since I'm not a chicken I need some help keeping the eggs warm and safe while they develop. The incubator has a small heater to keep the eggs warm just like the mommy chicken does when she sits on her nest.
